Abrasives

Application Description

Emulsion polymers are used in abrasive applications to bind high-loft nonwovens and abrasive matierals to form articles such as hand scrub pads and polishing pads. The polymer emulsion provides performance properties such as water, oil and solvent resistance, and adhesion or bonding ability.

MCP offers a variety of chemistries for the manufacture of abrasives. The recommended binder for industrial floor care or household abrasive pads are selfcrosslinking styrene butadiene emulsions. These emulsion polymers impart hydrophobicity, excellent wet and dry tensile strength, and stiffness or flexibility.
