Supply Chain Logistics Planner

This position will manage the relationship between MCP and its tolling partners in Europe by providing S&OP forecasts, inventory targets and other supply chain related information. Day-to-day activities would include order entry, production planning, warehousing, and customer order fulfillment by ensuring that products are scheduled, transported and delivered to MCP customers accurately and on time. This position also supports and contributes to the Supply Chain team through management of logistics activities through effective carrier scheduling and performance tracking.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (others may be assigned):

    • Acts as primary point of contact between MCP and tolling partners and 3PL in Europe
    • Schedules transportation between manufacturing plants, tollers, 3PL’s & warehouses and remote storage locations
    • Tracks and follows import shipments with customs brokers & arranges drayage
    • Assists with inbound transportation scheduling for raw materials
    • Assists with outbound transportation scheduling of bulk, TL & LTL shipments
    • Serve as primary backup for Logistics Manager
    • Serve as backup for Customer Service Representatives
    • Obtains freight quotes for truck, rail and ocean containers
    • Generates and maintains reports and tracks metrics for transportation and tolling activities

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS’ JOBS:

This role interacts daily with all Supply Chain associates but will also regularly work with Production, Quality, Sales, R&D and Accounting personnel in the U.S. and Europe.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Supply Chain Logistics Planner is accountable for achieving effective inventory management, order fulfillment and transportation services that deliver value in terms of cost, effectiveness, on time delivery and achievement of customer expectations.   The role is critical to delivering successful business results through effective coordination and communication between MCP and external providers who produce and deliver company products to customers.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree preferred or H.S. Graduate with significant work experience in stated fields required
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain experience with emphasis in Logistics or Transportation
  • Domestic freight experience required; international business acumen
  • Tolling or contract manufacturing experience highly desired
  • Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook proficiency
  • ERP experience, JD Edwards preferred
  • Multi-tasker, detail oriented; can work independently or in teams

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods
  • Must be able to operate a computer
  • Able to walk through plant, including outside and stairs
  • Able to use all required PPE appropriately
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
