R&D Synthesis Specialist

THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

Responsible for formulation and design of new vinyl acetate, vinyl acrylic, and acrylic based latexes for markets/applications specified. Develops and implements recipes to meet requirements for new product development projects assigned. Improve and suggest new laboratory equipment as needed to carry out projects. Collaborates with technical, marketing, customer service and operations support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilites (others may be assigned):

  • Synthesis responsibility, under the direction of R&D Director and R&D Manager, to design and run recipes for assigned projects
  • Improve and implement test methods to evaluate performance requirements
  • Supports Process Technology Manager on key process/recipe improvements
  • Prepares technical reports as needed
  • Can identify opportunities to drive improvements
  • Interface with new and/or existing customers

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of emulsion polymers experience in an R&D setting
  • Preference of experience with vinyl acetate polymer synthesis
  • BS in chemistry or engineering
  • Ability to work in teams or individually as determined by project
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented / multi-tasker

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time in a lab setting
  • Wear all required PPE
  • Be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer
  • Be able to walk between plant buildings (outside)

Travel

  • Limited to between local facilities
