Thickener

polymers_thickener

Viscosity is a key parameter for many of the coatings and sealants used in construction. When it's too thin caulk won't form good beads, coatings on vertical surfaces sag, and rollers give off splatter. On a porous surface a thin coating may soak in rather than forming a film over the top. Conversely, a coating that's too thick may be difficult to apply, especially by spraying, and a caulk will take excessive effort to extrude.

MCP produces a thickener designed to modify the rheology of latex polymer emulsion products. Tychem® 68710 is an anionic carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer latex thickener with a pH between 3.5 and 5.5, solids content around 34% and a high Tg.
